Christmas Time

It is that magical time of year again, when people like me are happy. I love this time of year. I am always in a good mood, singing carols , dressing like an elf. And of course decorating! I am going to  share my tree first. I went with colors that coordinate with my living room. Chocolate Brown, lime green and touches of gold. The tree itself is 8 feet tall,  and I have had it for years. I added three large Santa's in shades of brown, chocolate and lime green poinsettias, in various sizes. A beautiful chocolate velvet ribbon along with an open weave lime green one. Lots of ornaments in chocolates, lime green and gold, and some signs that say jingle, sparkle, believe and noel. Some curly glitzy sticks curled into the tree as well. My tree topper consist of more poinsettias , chocolate leaves , gold curly picks and beaded lime green ones as well. Along with large beaded lime green leaves and some puff balls of lime ,which completes my look.

Non-Traditional Colors for Thanksgiving

As you all know I have recently moved into a new home, and although I am not done " setting" up my house, I have to decorate. Even if I sit on milk crates, my decor is up (lol). This year I decided to challenge myself to come up with a non traditional colors.  Years ago I was helping stage some one's house and the client had a great Thanksgiving painting " Pilgrims In Snow" . I really loved that painting and have been looking for a cheaper version for years. This year I did! That is the inspiration piece for this years decor. Black and white with silver touches. Starting with that picture above my mantle, I add black leave garland from Halloween ( yes re purpose things). Below is a blessings sign painted silver. Black candle holders along with silver ones and candles frame it. I used black glitter, mercury glass, hand painted black and white  pumpkins for fall touches. A little sign in front that simply states : Love, Forgive and Be Thankful. And below  black glitter, black open weaved and mercury glass pumpkins to tie it all in.

Scary Swag & Halloween Tree

Happy Halloween ! In my previous post I told you I was moving to a new city, in another state. Well , I am here in a new house, with lots of packed boxes still. But I did manage to put up a Halloween tree and make a swag for my front door. This display isn't as grand as before, due to the move and a totally different porch. But I am sure the trick or treaters will enjoy it. Last year after seeing so many Halloween trees on pinterest and craft blogs , I decided to look for one in some of the after Christmas sales. And I did!! It is a slim 5 foot, pre lite one. I used an open weave purple ribbon it the tree, a Raz witch hat as a tree topper . Tons of ornaments , signs, and a large white spider.

The swag for my front door  also has a Raz witch hat. Of course some  creepy witch hands. A sign, ribbons and purple deco mesh.

I will be back on Monday to show you the whole door theme. Till then :

ENJOY!

Happy Anniversary to Us!

Our anniversary is this week, and I designed a romantic table scape for us to enjoy!
This years colors are Tiffany blue and a coral, with silver accents. Using three boxes in varying sizes , covered in decorative papers. The top box, I used as a vase for my centerpiece. Using flowers in cream and  coral ,with silver picks as accents. I added  Tiffany blue ribbon and tissue paper as accents in the arrangement. The letter 3 is glittered and matches smaller presents that are accented with pearls and fur.goblets , match the Vera Wang champagne flutes. Silver flatware and small tea lights complete the look.

Tin Foil Beauty

A while back I bought a craigslist black buffet, the paint job they did on it was in sad shape. I decided to strip it down to redo it. After seven layers of paint, including polka dots, stripe and a flower garden scene, I had it sanded . I decided to stretch my artistic boundaries and do something totally different . I used foil and modge podge to cover my piece. The details on this piece made it a challenge. But after three days , it looked like the tin man from Wizard Of Oz! So the next step was to take black antiquing creme and rub into all the creases , transforming it into a goth looking finish. Adding some white as well finshed it before sealing it. I added new hardware and ta-da....finished!
